Primary Power International is a leading developer of renewable energy in the U.S. and Canada.
Our game is wood fuel. Simply put. We're experts at diverting wood and other organic
materials from the waste stream and using it as fuel to produce clean,
environmentally sound electricity. We provided much-needed power to
satisfy today's energy needs in addition to providing cost effective
waste management options for the forest products and related industries.
We are a vertically integrated company, collecting
and processing the alternative fuels we use to power our plants. This
power is then sold to industry, and public and private utilities through
our marketing company. We are multifaceted, yet grounded in a single,
simple philosophy - that a successful business comes from successful
relationships with our customers, our employees and the communities
in which we do business. This includes environmental stewardship, which
is the responsibility of us all.
Our employees are our most valuable asset,
with whom we share a common goal: supplying our utility and industrial
customers with reliable, cost-effective power in an environmentally
sensitive manner.
Primary Power International
has been developing and acquiring independent power projects in the
United States since 1981, beginning with the commissioning of the
company's first major project in 1991: Grayling Generating Station,
a 36 megawatt, $70 million wood-fired plant in Grayling, Michigan.
Its sister plant, Genesee Power Station located near Flint, Michigan,
was commissioned in 1994. These partnerships helped launch Primary
Power's solo endeavors that resulted in the acquisition or development
of seven additional companies between 1998 and 2001.
Together these operations provide an outlet for more
than 1 million tons of wood waste per year, providing affordable and
environmentally-sound options for the forest products industry, and
other generators of wood wastes.
Primary Power International was formed in 1981 and
now has ownership interests in 90 megawatts of wood- fired power in
the U.S. and 30.5 megawatts in Canada. We also operate a company that
processes tire-derived fuel, and a power marketing firm. Services include
project development, engineering and environmental consulting.
Our company goal is to develop our energy
business while diversifying fuel types and geographic regions.
